Hazel's Story
My parents moved to Laguna Beach in 1943. My mother worked for the Ralstons who lived on Cliff Drive and owned a drug store. Later we moved onto Ocean Avenue not far from the old fire department & police station. I began kindergarten at 5 (1946) Laguna Elementary School which was across the street from the High School. Can't remember all my classmates except one Pamela Ward who lived in Emerald Bay. I've been looking for school pictures from this time period and no one seems to have any, I've lost all mine. My mother still lives in Orange county Lake Forest and I'll be there Feb. 26, 2015 to plan a birthday celebration for her and I can be reached during this time through email. I now reside in Seattle, Washigton and my husband is the Director of Education at one of the colleges. Hope someone reads my story and gets in contact with me. I'm no longer Hazel O King, but Mrs. Carpenter.
