Heather's Story
Life
Hi folks! Well, it's been an interesting 22 years since WHS! Some things have stayed the same (still have brown hair, brown eyes, love to laugh, tan easily, and LOVE to read a good book), but some have changed. (Thankfully not the hair color - at least not yet!)
I have two awesome daughters - one who is now a senior in high school, and the other who is will be a freshman next month! (how did THAT happen?)
I am still a tortoise fanatic, and in fact I have (legally) two CA desert tortoises. I also own a 4 year old Rottweiler (Bear), or maybe I should say that he owns me? I guess that question could best be answered when we're on our daily walk - at 3:30 a.m.! Our corn snake "Bob" rounds out the family.
I live in Lancaster, CA; and actually, I really enjoy the desert. My husband and daughters go dirt bike riding nearly every weekend, while Bear & I go hiking. I don't ride, as 6 years ago, Howard and I were in a serious car accident - and I literally broke my neck. (He was fine; and the girls were not with us.) I have since had three neck surgeries, and it has been a LOOOOOOONG road back. Why three surgeries? Well... the first two were by a surgeon I trusted with my life (literally).... interesting that he then FLED THE COUNTRY... which I discovered when I started having more problems. nd THIS time, my neurosurgeon has stuck around! There's back surgery in my future somewhere - but hopefully that can be the FAR future!
I'm a payroll specialist for Lancaster School District, I have awesome co-workers, and I really enjoy what I do. I still type quickly (over 120 wpm), and that tends to come in handy :)
I still love to read - and that includes Stephen King (though he has gotten more off the wall since his accident) and Dean Koontz (my old favorites from high school). Photography is another hobby I still have - and lately it's hard to find me without my camera (which also explains why I'm never in any pic's myself - I'm the one taking them!) I even have a web site if you want to drop by - it's hosted on smugmug as "hlcphotography" at "smugmug" (dot) com.
I mostly shoot high school and junior high sports, although more and more portraits recently.
I can't say that 20 years ago I saw myself where I am now... but who really can? I CAN say that I'm happy with my life; and although there will always be moments where you would like to have "do-overs", overall there's truly not much I would change.
