I have been married to Nicholas Filipiak for almost 41(in May, 2009) years. We raised five foster sons and our biological daughter; Gwendolyn, 36 yrs. old, and son Trevor, 21 yrs. old.( will be a senior at Allegheny College in the Fall) We still live in Gibsonia on Bauer Dr. (I am the director of The Wesley Spectrum Services Family and Child Development Center. -old bio)I was let go from that position in March, 2009 and a 36 yr.old woman put in my place. I was really blindsided and never expected that to happen. I was treated very rudely and it was a blow to me. I have a masters degree in psychology and am a Certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

til she died in Nov. 2007. That was very difficult and has taken me a while to get over. I got shingles two weeks after she died and had them for six months. Then my 13 yr. old dog was diagnosed with cancer and after surgery and nursing only lived until Dec. 2008. My 17 yr. old cat died in Jan. 2009 and I was replaced at my job on Jan. 12, 2009. I was told a new job description was being prepared for me, but that never materialized. So it was a difficult 14 months.
I am now unemployed (although I am currently developing an affiliation with The Autism Center of Pittsburgh to provide services to families.) In a way, this has been a good time, since I have had time to rest and heal. I feel much better physically and mentally. They say that everything has a purpose.
