Heather's Story

I actually enjoyed my time at TL(for the most part), even if people perceived me as different, geeky, aloof, hard to predict. I look at what some kids are going through now and think I didn't have it too bad. Of course, that might just be my naive view since I didn't really experience too much in high school. Although winning the grand prize at the grad night party was sweet justice! :) Now, I'm just hoping that I can hear from some people, and see what they've learned, thought about, and done since TL. Hope your life is good and that when you think of your years in high school its not with any regrets. I know there were some guys I had crushes on I wish I had said something to, some parties I wish I had gone to, some proms I wish I would have been invited to, a dance where someone actually asked me to dance, some insecurities I wish I could have over come then, but really, had those happened, it could have changed my path entirely. And I am quite happy where I am now. And thats all good. Maybe someday I'll say hi to my crushes, and maybe someday someone from high school will tell me I wasn't all that weird, or all that ugly, and I can laugh at how sometimes no matter how strong I am now, I still feel some of those insecurities that came from the ever fun "teenage" years. Some people ask would you go back knowing what you know now? And I dont think I would. Sure there are some conversations I wish I had the courage to have, some kisses that would have been fantastic(you boys missed out!), some days spent alone in t...Expand for more
he library erased, but ya know, I dont think I would want to go back again and change anything. It would be like cheating! So anyway, this is my novel now. 20 years after leaving TL. Some highlights since leaving: I was a horse trainer, camp counseler, worked at an animal park and got kissed by a whale, hugged by an oragatang, stalked by a baby leopard. Found my career in recruiting and in human resources in IT,High Tech, manufacturing and now Healthcare. I backpacked through the grand canyon for 11 days(life changing experience), spent an amazing honeymoon in costa rica, kayaked in puget sound islands for 7 days, took great photos of Alaska and glacier ice from a cruise, packed my car with my cat and all my belongings and left CA for a new life in WA state, discovered I have a great spike in volleyball, still can serve an ace in tennis, won a bowling trophy(who would have thought), and fell in love with country western dancing. I went on a few humorous first dates until meeting my wonderful husband, made great friends from college and thereafter, still stayed in touch with my best friend from TL, got my first dog, almost published a novel- wont give up on this one, started my photography business following my passion, and now hope to have the next adventure with kids.! :) Anyway, I hope whatever it is you are doing now in life (besides reading my bio), it makes you happy. Be well, be happy, and enjoy who you have become. If you want to just send a note for the heck of it, you can at hskillman at yahoo dot com.
