Heather's Story
Life
I'm very happily married, almost 10 years now. We have 7 beautiful children[(yours(1), mine(1) and ours(5 so far) kind of thing-number 8 is on the way]. We live on a small homestead in Wyoming with 5 goats, 32 chickens, 4 rabbits, 8 cats, a beagle and a St. Bernard
We're very unabashedly born-again Christians, sharing the Gospel with many people, and have several wonderful ministries in place(to help people who have celiac disease and children with physical deformities as well as children with sensory processing disorder).
I am certainly not the wild child I was in high school! I fill in for our Children's Church when needed and I am the director of our AWANA Cubbies, as well as the leader. I happily stay home with our children and homeschool them. I teach baton classes upon occassion and will be starting my own twirling studio this spring. I am also a self-taught herbalist(soon to be certified) and nutritionist(also self-taught). I also own my own cottage business creating Victorian style Christmas ornaments, and small lap/table quilts. I recently learned how to knit and oh golly, it's an addiction now. And I have this thing about yarns now............
Life keeps us very busy around here, and we certainly enjoy it. I may not be as wild as I once was, but I am still pretty much a "grab life by the seat of the pants and hang on for dear life" kind of woman. We love to hike and hunt, and tour the countryside for history. We as a family are very big into photography also. As a homeschooling family, we are keen on the whole "self-taught" concept. More of a "light the fire and watch it blaze" education instead of a "open the brain and pour in the information while th...Expand for more
ey regurgitate it" attitude. Some call it "unschooling", we call it "life".
School
I've been thinking about high school quite a bit lately. I really miss some of the "good old days", but I wouldn't trade the knowledge and things I have now for all the high school in the world.
I did a lot of dumb things in high school and hurt some people that I wish I hadn't hurt, but I'm here now and the past has made me who I am today. I like the woman I've become.
Biggest crush? Has been and probably always will be one person. But since he's not my husband now, it doesn't matter. Teacher who inspired me...have to say Scott Winters. Really. I know there was some water under the bridge there, but as the color guard instructor he always pushed me to work harder and not let anything hold me back. He knew I could do more and made me work harder for what I got. And I'll never forget him for that.
Best memories.............midnight crusies with Ronnie Tucker, and band events. I was my happiest on the field or the gym floor for color guard and with friends who just let me be me. Pente in Denny's with Ronnie, driving to Cinci with Ronnie, a few wild parties with Mark Berridge......WHERE'S JOE with Deanna Koger and O-ee! wandering other school hallways in our underwear at color guard competitions and coming home worn out from competing. Busted knees with braces that Scott wouldn't let me show over my uniform. Learning to drive stick shift with Doug Woody. Slumber parties with Dawn and making our own nachoes. Movies at Kelly's. My senior year was the best year I can imagine for any 18 year old girl.
But.............life now is too incredible to ever want to go back and change anything.
