Heather's Story
Life
The man in the photo on the right is Rick Springfield. I had the pleasure of meeting him 4/01 and again for 45 minutes in 6/01 (Father's Day w/e). He's a WAAAAAY cool dude! Very intellectual, but funny and down-to-earth. He puts on a FABULOUS show!
My Pets
5 cats - George, Gracie, Griffin, Dutchess & Duke. George died at the age of 19 in 5/01. I still have Gracie, who is 17 yrs old and adopted Griffin 10/01 from an animal shelter in Milwaukee to keep her company. He was put to sleep for health reasons 12/02. I've had 2 dogs, Shenini (Shep/Husky mix) and a purebred Akita, Kujo. Shenini is now placed in a fine family home and Kujo was put to sleep for health reasons 9/99. 9/02 I acquired a wild Siamese kitten (who am I kidding, I stole her from her stray mother) and named her Dutchess and in 6/03 I did the same thing except this time I took the whole litter & litterbox trained and weaned them before giving them to the NSPCA. Except I kept a male and named him Duke.
As of 9/06/02 I am living in Las Vegas, working on writing my music and hopefully will find someone to record them. My dream was to be a famous singer, but I'll settle for Celine Dion recording my songs. :D While working on my music, I decided to go to school and become a Massage Therapist. I started my own business called Ohmmmassages.org in '04. As of 11/05, I am workinged as an instructor at Lincoln College for their Massage Associates degree programs. In '07 I became a Reiki Master and do volunteer healing/spiritual sessions with the ill. I earned my Bachelors in Church Ministry in '08.
MOVIES and MUSIC
I just finished writing a screenplay as well as the music for a musical titled "Deja Duet" and submitted it to several Screenwriter Competitions at the beginning of July, 2008. Since it's a story about events in my life, I may consider acting as my character to keep the honesty of the story. 2 little known actors named Ben Affleck and Matt Damon did the same with a film named "Good Will Hunting" ... it didn't do too well in the box office or in video sales, so I doubt you've heard of it. :)
I love Vegas and my A-list clients, however, I could do without the summers being SO hot. Winters are fabulous! Never "WI cold". Only snows once or twice a year and when it does, the snow usually melts within an hour. Still single, but now that I'm turning 38 this August I am DEFINITELY ready to meet a special man ...Expand for more
I can settle down with and raise a family. Until then, I've been enjoying life dating some of the "local" men as well as men from the world of Hollywood. If you're ever in Vegas on a weekend, look me up in the phonebook and we'll have coffee!
The teacher who inspired me most was probably Mr.Kirsch, although I didn't realize it at the time because Chemistry was a prerequisite for Adv. Bio. I dropped Chemistry for Spanish class. That's what you call trading a "C" for an "A". :) Fortunately, my studies in Psychology and Human Development fulfilled my desire to study more of Hum. Bio. And my degree in Massage Therapy required a more in-depth knowledge of the human anatomy than I ever expected to learn. We all learned about the 206 bones in the body, but no one ever told me about something called "bony landmarks" where each muscle attaches to the bones via tendons or ligaments. Did you know there are over 600 named muscles in the body?! I think it's all fascinating, but I've probably put you to sleep by now. :)
If I could do it all over again, would I? Only if I could take the knowledge I have now with me. There are some things I'd like to have done differently. But then again, every experience we have in life makes us who we are today and I'm pretty happy with the person I've turned out to be. Maybe going back and making changes wouldn't be so great. If you've seen "The Butterfly Effect" you'll know what I'm talking about. :)
College
I cannot add my Master's & Doctoral degree info, but I graduated from Canterbury in the UK in 12/98. My Ph.D. is in Counselling. I was able to take classes via correspondence. Unfortunately, at that time they did not accept assignments submitted by email or fax ,which meant I had to snail mail everything about a month before it was due to ensure it was received promptly. I was fortunate enough to use my experience of group counseling with HIV & AIDS patients to satisfy my clinic hour requirements.
My most embarrassing moment while enrolled at Canterbury was receiving my first assignment back with a curt letter indicating that I should enroll at Cambridge if I want to attend their school. As it turns out, I addressed the envelope to Cambridge instead of Canterbury. *Ooops!* To avoid being expelled for a stupid error like that, I immediately purchased 50 legal-size envelopes pre-addressed to Canterbury for future assignments. Lesson learned.
