Heidi's Story

UPDATE... We are still coming to Yuma. This year combining the trip down following The World of Outlaw sprint car series as far as Antioch before they head east again. Joe is happily retired and is still doing his radio show . I would rather be working. Son Joseph and his wife still have the machine shop and are very busy. His daughter Aleana is 20 and graduated from high school 2 years ago. She is a very talented artist and photographer and is finding herself. Daughter Eloisa is a busy practicing midwife and she and husband Alex have 4 daughters now. Alex is an electrician and found a very good job as soon as he got his license. Son Rocky is still finding himself. He is currently working for a building contractor doing pickup work . Sadly we lost our dog Lexie. She was 10 and is much missed. We still have Kasey and Foxy and now Sadie, the smartest little blond long haired dachshund puppy on earth, is part of the family. Love to all. BEFORE: Big News: I finally took the step and retired from state service. I appropriately chose my last day to work as 10/31/11. We had a bang-up party with an all day food day and the kids of employees and clients came in for trick or treating. Joe and I spent the next two weeks moving from our home of 33 years into a small apartiment behind the house (4 bedrooms/2 baths to 1 bedroom/1 bath for two adults and 3 dogs). We had an early Thanksgiving dinner at Joseph and Vanessa's and took off two days later for Yuma. It was by far the fastest trip we have ever taken to Yuma but here we are! Joe and the dogs are HAPPY. Me, I'm not so happy, haven't adjusted to a directionless life focused on having fun. LIFE:: I was born in Santa Cruz, CA. Grew up in E Palo Alto and Palo Alto. I grew up in a typical 50's Catholic family with 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Mama at home and Daddy the breadwinner. It was a good growing up time.Went for 3 years to Holy Cross HS in Mountain View, the transferred to Palo Alto HS (Paly) for my senior year. I was kind of a dork in high school b...Expand for more
ut loved it, participated in orchestra and band, too clumsy for sports, voice like an off key cat. Drama was backstage doing costumes which carried over to my childrens halloween costumes, daughters skating dresses, then backstage again for her high school plays. Also did all the prom dresses for her and friends, many wedding dresses. Hobbies have been reading (can't get enough), sewing, crochet, gardening, hanging out with hubby and limited traveling although I have been to Germany, Switzerland and France. I met my husband at S.R.I. it was love a first sight. A girlfriend introduced us for which I am forever grateful. We both attended 2 years at Foothill College We have had a good life. Moving from Mountain View, to Santa Cruz, to Pacific Grove, to Salinas and finally settling in Sedro Woolley, WA where we have lived in the same house since 1978. Our two oldest children, Joseph and and Eloisa where born when we lived in Salinas. Our third child, Rocky came to us at age 6 from San Francisco. He is the child of one of my sisters who is now deceased. We adopted him when he was 7. His mother Sally passed away several years ago. Joseph and his wife own a machine shop in Sedro Woolley. Eloisa and her husband live in Bellingham and she is a midwife. Rocky also lives in Bellingham.xt month. Joe retired a few years ago. I retired October 2011 but would prefer to work a few more years. We will be traveling. Joe has a weekly race report on a local radio station and the traveling will fit right in with that as he can phone in his reports. The dogs of course will come with us. OOPS! I forgot to mention the dogs, Kasey (Mastador a lab mastiff mix), Lexie (dachshund now deceased), Sadie (dachshund), and Foxie (chiweenie). They go everywhere with us so our home on wheels is very cosy and a little hairy. They have been trained to sit on the furniture because there would be no room to walk if they stayed on the floor. Thats about it. Love to all my friends and family who may read this. Heidi (EBERT) Toussint
