Helen (Pete)'s Story
Life
And here I am in this strange Bio Block. I can only hope that there are friends in here, too! After WGHS I received an AA degree from Wm. Woods College in 1949. It is now a university. I was married in 1950 and we had 3 daughters. I taught school (first and second grades) in Robertsville, MO for 6 years. Our family grew and a final count is 3 girls and 2 boys. I returned to school and graduated from Washington University in 1966 with a BS ED degree. I returned to teaching in the Rockwood School District and remained in the fifth grade for 24 years. Guess I finally got it right because I retired in 1990 after 30 years in the classroom.

Many of our children live within an hours drive so I am able to get together with them and also 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren regularly. The last 15 years I have bought and sold antiques. The shop is in Eureka, MO. I have collected teapots for many years and had well over 800 in my collection. Needless to say it was not fun dusting so many and I sold some of them in the shop. I lived in the country and had been a country bumpkin for nearly 50 years. Even so, some of the best years of my life were spent at Webster Groves High School.I am thankful that I am still close enough to drive through Webster now and then. Two years ago I decided I needed to leave my country home and move to a place not too far away but with close neighbors. I live in a retirement home now just 20 minutes away from my old country home. I still work at the antique shop and keep busier than I need to be.
