Helen's Story
After MPS, I went to Beaver College along with Susan Boyer and Penny Ray. Lasted for only 1.5 yrs., then got a job at Lehigh University's library, stayed for a few yrs. and decided that that would be my career. After changing my major a few times, I finally finished college, then grad school for my library degree. Back at Lehigh’s library, I held various positions within Technical Services during the period when academic libraries were automating their card catalogs. Very stressful. I burned out, then transferred to the Acquisitions Dept., where I implemented one integrated library system, then over the years completed the migration to 2 more systems. ng in particular -- relaxing, reading, cooking, eating, gardening, buying/selling on eBay, TV, movies. Lots of travel over the years, mostly to Europe, Italy the most recent. Then reality kicked in when my husband went on dialysis, and we underwent training to do his treatments at home. More stress! He died in 2019, so now I am single again, still living in Lower Macungie Township (WSW of Allentown), trying to be pro-active by getting rid of excess “stuff” before I get too feeble to do it myself. It's funny, the twists and turns your life takes. EDITORIAL COMMENT: Just reading what I have written here, my life has been full of burnouts, moving from one thing to another in order to stay productive and self-sufficient. Oh well, ya gotta stay sane! Sigh ...
