Henry's Story
Life
After leaving Phillips, I joined the Marine Corps for 3 years (Viet Nam). I returned to Chicago after the Service and went to work for the Quaker Oats Co. for 5 years. I married sometime in the early seventies. The exact time escapes me because I'd rather forget it. The second marriage lasted 1 week. It was also my second big mistake in life. I had several unimportant jobs until 1979 when I went to work for the University of Chicago where I stayed for 16 years until 1995. I lost that job due to my own stupidity. Of course I married a third time, in 1980. I'm still happily married to this woman, though I can't for the life of me, understand why she put up with me this long. (She did leave me several times, due to my own stupidity and shortcomings) She's a gem amid all the stones in my life. From 1995 to 1998 I held menial jobs again. Now I'm living in St. Louis, Mo. working for a financial services Company. I've always worked in the Data Processing; Information Technology field in one capacity ...Expand for more
or another. The story of my life. Leaving out all the good stuff.
New stuff to add. Moved again. Now I'm in Omaha, NE,. as of August, 2004. I lost a leg in 2006 due to poor blood circulation and have been disabled and retired ever since. Well I'm single again, My wife passed away in June of 2016. I got to get out of this 4 bedroom house. I think I'll move back to Chicago where all my family live. Being old and alone isn't any fun. I'd at least be close to my family and then I'd have someone close to visit.
Military
I was a Crew chief in the Operations section of a MACS unit on Monkey Mountain from our landing in Da Nang, until I transfered to a LAAMBS outfit on the same hill to end up my tour of duty. 1967-1968. I landed with friends and lost most of them to there stupidity and drunkeness. Those that read this, that were there will remember. I left the service with a lot of fond memories(due to my travels,I saw alot of the Far East), terrors and ONE friend. My buddy 'MATT'. I'll never forget him.
