Life After leaving Phillips, I joined the Marine Corps for 3 years (Viet Nam). I returned to Chicago after the Service and went to work for the Quaker Oats Co. for 5 years. I married sometime in the early seventies. The exact time escapes me because I'd rather forget it. The second marriage lasted 1 week. It was also my second big mistake in life. I had several unimportant jobs until 1979 when I went to work for the University of Chicago where I stayed for 16 years until 1995. I lost that job due to my own stupidity. Of course I married a third time, in 1980. I'm still happily married to this woman, though I can't for the life of me, understand why she put up with me this long. (She did leave me several times, due to my own stupidity and shortcomings) She's a gem amid all the stones in my life. From 1995 to 1998 I held menial jobs again.
