Herman's Story
Life
Hated high school, got out and went to college. First to Grand Rapids Baptist College, then to Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music, then to Cornerstone College (what those two schools merged into...) Studied Bible, Aviation and Aviation maintenance. Did assorted flying jobs in Texas, Alaska, Louisiana and Michigan. Served overseas in missionary aviation in Brazil, Liberia, Mali and Papua New Guinea. Went into full time mission aviation in 1995 and now serve as the Director of Aviation Ministries for the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. (ABWE) We had the dubious distinction of having one of our planes shot down in Peru in 2001 killing one of our missionaries and her baby. I am located at our International Airbase in Concord, GA. he pilots that serve with the mission in South America, Africa and Asia. I travel a lot both domestically and internationally in conjuction with our responsibility of supporting our pilots and enabling them to carry out their ministry of reaching into remote areas with the Gospel. I spend a lot of time in my home office but also do a variety of outside activities as well. Lately I have been cutting trees up that fell in an ice storm, (just got finished with the hurricane damage...) Also do aircraft repairs and maintenance inspections, flight and maintenance instruction, airstrip maintenance and mowing, deer control on the airstrip (ie we shoot them and then eat them...)We are in a construction project to build a new hangar and so forth. I am married to Tami and we have three children aged 10,11,12.
