Hilda's Story

I am now retired from nursing. Spend most of my time making my hubby and grandson's happy. A job I love! I have lived in Mobile the past 45 years, and miss the mountains and the season change but not the cold. I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have order, quiet, and honesty to deal with the day-to-day stuff. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Janet Smith, because we were friends who lost touch.. Life can toss you some unexpected events, my 3 children's father was kill in a tragic car accident when my youngest was 16. Today I am happily married to a great man and am grateful everyday that I have him in my life. If I won $100 million, I'd give a million to each of my kids and grand kids, then spen...Expand for more
d the rest on travel, travel and building a new hanger for my hubby. My best friend would tell you I'm sweet, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as stand-offish. I hate, Hate getting "all dolled up" jeans, tee and tennis shoes and I'm happy. There are no trophies, but have been the ground person with the Young Eagles program and have flown almost 200 kids who have never flown before. To spark their interest in aviation. My first job was at West Virginia Hotel, where I got paid less than 3 and hour to clean rooms, make beds. What I remember most about it is I lied about my age to get the job I was only 15 at the time. As a child going fishing with my dad was a favorite memory. He loved to fish! On Sunday's, Mother would cook chicken, over the fire, while he fished with my sister and I. We would eat hot chicken and cold pork-N-beans.
