Howard "Ward"'s Story

Life Hi Everybody.Hope you've all had good lives so far.I moved to Australia in 1966 and have also spent a lot of time in Asia.I love Asia.My second language is Indonesian, plus a little bit of other Asian languages. Been mainly self-employed in my adult life here.Currently living on five acres, building a house and large sheds, planting tropical fruit trees, etc. My social life revolves around Asia mainly.I have all my adult life been known as Ward Greene, not Howard. Newest interest is running around all the genealogy sites and tracing my adcestry.Great fun.Any Greenes from Point Verde with really old family information, please contact me,especially anything from Boston days of John Green. Also I am related to almost all Judge families in all of Nfld. Anyone know when they first arrived? Also my great-grandmother was a Mi'Kmaq (MicMac) Indian girl named Mary Ellen Miller. Any Millers with Mi'Kmaq ancestry who can tell me more? Also Princess Sheila Pikes from Little Salmonier and St. Lawrence. Fascinating stuff. Other than that, I am currently building a large studio for guitarmaking and repair of acoustic guitars, and starting to write books, with the intention of making it a next career. Overall, life has been good so far. Ward. School School bio ? Wow! No,I wouldn't want to do that part of life again. I think I loved books and learning too much to be in school. My home currently has 30,000 non-fiction books. Life for me started when I started to travel and mix in different cultures, especially Chinese and other Asian modern cultures.where I feel extremely comfortable. I probably would have enjoyed uni if it had been available to me in those days,as by the time of uni, mostly the people who don't like books have been weeded out.I have never stopped learning, but my only formal schooling since those days has been when I have attended concentrated courses in Chinese language (twice) and Korean language. No big school crushes,no great memories, and indeed the happiest day of my entire school life was the day I left school for good(yes...Expand for more
,I graduated well). With hindsight I would have liked to have befriended the most intelligent girls in the school...so if a couple of you girl honor students remember me,do write and say hello. Ward Greene,by the way,not Howard. What did I learn in school ? I learned to read and write, which was good....and I learned that although most people are basically good, there are always twisted sociopaths as well. That lesson has served me well. And in case that sounds strange...don't worry...my life so far has been pretty darn good , thanks in large part to my school memories ,which are not great. But constant learning is wonderful.### Ward. Workplace Moved to Australia in 1966.Spent lots of time in Asia, which I love.Indonesian my second language.Little bit of Chinese etc. Except for first few years of moving around Australia,I have always had my own small businesses, including bookshops, antique shops, collectibles(coins, stamps, etc.),other small businesses, plus a motor show business, bringing a truckload of car magazines, manuals etc. (about 40,000)to Motor Shows all over Australia. Currently have collectibles and repair and sell acoustic guitars. Next career (fingers crossed) will be book-writer. Update 2012. I also have an eBay store...if you want to just have a curious look, easiest way is to go to a search engine and type in eccentric_collectibles....and don't forget the ( _ ) in between the words. Up will come a direct link. It's all collectibles of many kinds. Military Argentia, Newfoundland. I was never in the military, but worked for two years as a civilian with the U.S. Navy there.I was the guy in Auto Accessories in 1962-63. So if by chance any of your service guys read this, write and say hello....USN guys like O.B., Harry S. ,Creepy Leo (Sorry,Leo,but how else would you know which Leo ?), Chief Paul, the Marine family Stegal, Wilma,George,Dan, Billy Stegal who were my next door neighbors in 1954, and also the USN family who rented from my family when we were kids, Susie and brother Tucker (that was probably 1950-52).
