Ida's Story
Life
Okay, folks.... Well, I ended up going in different directions than I'd planned - but I bet there are a bunch of us who did that!
I've lived in Cincinnati, New York City, Beckley, and now, Jacksonville. I finally did make it to Europe, but for a pretty brief trip into Germany and thru part of England.
Right now, I'm disability retired after 23 years as a US Civil Servant, mostly with Dept of Navy, here in Jacksonville, FL. I have a 13 year old, fluffy white dog with an attitude, a mobile home, and 4 cats that I've been trying to find homes for, for the last 3 years!
I'd love to hear from some of my old classmates. I probably won't be traveling any time soon, but I'd like to know where people ended up and what their situations are now.
Oh - I've been married twice, for a total of about 18 years, and am now single again. It's just me and the critters. My brother is married and living in Massachusettes, about to retire to a new home in Maine, he tells me! At this point, my other family consists mostly of some cousins in Chattanooga and Wooster, Ohio.
I'm gardening a bit, trying to grow tomatoes like the ones I remember up home! Never going to happen in Florida, b...Expand for more
ut I keep trying! Flowers are a bit easier - if we could get some rain, please! I read a lot and I love the NY Times Crosswords.
Where is Charlie Rife? Where's Larry Irby Jordan? And did anyone ever find Susan Moritis? What about the Bunting twins? For that matter, I'd like to hear from any of you. Send a line.... I promise not to follow up with spam! LOL!
Workplace
I guess, like most folks, my most interesting jobs were the earliest ones. I'll give you a partial list, at least, of things I've done - mostly in chronological order:
soloist for Catholic, Baptist, and Christian Science churches; soloist for two Jewish Temples (It took. I later converted.); private piano lessons; public school teaching; retail clothing sales; retail photo sales; aluminum siding phone sales; clerk; computer clerk; secretary; assistant director of admissions for a girl's school in NYC. Federal Employee's Union organizer, and president of one of their union locals. The last several years, I was a computer specialist for the Dept of Navy aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville. It's been almost 10 years, and it's okay that I've forgotten about everything I knew, because it's all obsolete anyway!
