Ina's Story
School
Elementary school was a long time ago. What I remember most were the wonderful Christmas plays we had. I was in the dancing routines and I still love to dance. The teachers then, put a lot of time and creation into whatever we did. We received such good educations, we didn't realize how lucky we were. In High School, we lived "Happy Days" just like the television program. We created our own fun by playing ball, getting together in the evenings and playing euchre and making fudge. We watched "I Love Lucy", and went to High School Football Games and walked through the Follansbee Park everyday at lunch period. The school dances afterward and going to the Buffalo Confectionery or to JO Jon's, will live in my memory forever. Again, in the fifties, everything was different. We received excellent educations and parents didn't give the teachers a bad time. We all helped each other. I worked at the Steubenville Herald Star newspaper office after graduation and began going to dances where Bobby Vinton played all over the Ohio Valley. I remember talking to him back then. ver sat down. In 1959, I began a new life, of course, when I got married and had children, but that's another profile. Those past times were the ingredients that built the kind of person I have become and I am proud of that. I went on to College and ended up with a Master's Degree. I've worked in many capacities and am now retired and live in Steubenville, Ohio, . I would be happy to hear from anyone who remembers me from those happy school days.
I'm single again, and have been for a number of years. I have two small grandsons, and two step-grandchildren whom I adore. I love to go to concerts, dances, and enjoy everything. I still play Euchre and don't see as much of my old friends as I'd like to. I've made many friends over the years and am active in a lot of clubs, organizations, etc. I'm an avid reader and love to visit my hometown of Follansbee and to run into old friends and classmates. I recently ran into a classmate that I didn't even know back then and it was as though we had known each other forever. WE traded stories and our mutual friendships. His wife is a great gal, too, and we made fast friends. Retirement is fun but it could be even MORE fun.
