Life"
Just didn't turn out the way I thought it should.
I’ve been a RN for over 20 years. I have always worked in usually the most intense critical areas of the hospital from Trauma Room, ICUs, ER, Recovery room to the Electrophysiology cardiac lab. During my career as a nurse, I have learned that life is not fair. Life itself has shown me how incredibly unfair it can be.
God gave me two of the most amazing handsome sons. But then he took them back suddenly without warning, in January 2004, and October 2016. Severely breaking my heart as well as their father's heart. My branch of the family tree has been severed forever by their short lives. All the dreams I had of my sons’ future, any grandchildren, my legacy…..everything….vanished…before I had a chance to scream. h of my youngest son Joel when he was a senior in high school. But to lose my second and only surviving child last year, has been beyond brutal. I take life one day a time now. Walking through a million memories, swimming through the ocean of tears I’ve cried, staring at my missing future. With nothing but the question “WHY ???” on my mind.
I keep looking at my phone wondering why my son hasn't called or texted. I'll even accept bad news like he's wrecked his car or ran out of money. But, I know his car is in gargage in one piece. His last paycheck sits on his nightstand next to his broken bent glasses that were damaged when he collapsed suddenly in the back yard.
All I see now is the constant pain and heartache on his father’s face. A once extremely strong man, now reduced to an empty shell of his former self. A man so traumatized he can’t walk into the back yard out of fear of the memory of trying to bring our son back to life.
