J. Clinton (Clint) Morrison:  

I was born in the small rural community of Conway, P.E.I., on February 9, 1948, son of J. Clinton Morrison Sr. and Ruth E. (Boyle) Morrison. I was educated in the local one-room school before attending O’Leary Regional High School in 1962 from where I graduated in 1965. I attended Prince of Wales College from 1965 to 1968, graduating with a Diploma in Education (1968). In 1975 I graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a B.A. in History and English. I began my teaching career at Ellerslie-Bideford Consolidated School where I taught grades five and six during 1968-1969. In 1969 I moved to Summerside where I taught grades seven and eight at Summerside Junior High School until 1976. From 1976 to 2003 I taught grades seven through nine at Summerside Intermediate School. I retired from teaching in 2003, having taught continuously in Island schools since 1968. I have been researching, writing, editing and publishing Island history, poetry, and genealogy since 1975, and am the recipient of numerous awards: a Prince Edward Island Heritage Foundation Publishing Award (1979); the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation’s top award - the Award of Honour (1985), “in recognition of an outstanding contribution in the field of Island heritage”; the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation’s Mary Cornfoot Brehaut Award (1996), for “an outstanding contribution to the preservation of the heritage of Prince Edward Island”; and Heritage Awards from Museum & Heritage Prince Edward Island (2005, 2007, 2009, 2010). I am also the recipient of a Certificate of Commendation from The American Association for State and Local History (1985) for “A Landmark Contribution to Prince Edward Island Community History.” I have also contributed short stories and poetry to several West Prince Arts Council publications, and have written several articles for the semiannual publication, The Island Magazine, published by Museum and Heritage Prince Edward Island. Between 1978 and 2013 I have authored seven books and been editor of two others, all pertaining to various aspects of P.E.I. history: Robert W.
