Jack's Story
Workplace
I have been a high school teacher and guidance counsellor in Durham region for the past 18 years. After serving as a part time history professor at Lakehead University for two years, this fall, I began working as a professor at Glendon College, the bilingual campus of York University in Toronto.
Over the past few years, in my spare time I have also worked as a researcher and writer, contributing to the the CBC's Canada: A People's History series. I co-authored the history book Emerging Loyalties in 2006, and defended my PhD dissertation, a history of the Windsor area French schools in December 2007. In 2008, I worked with Radio-France, and in 2009 I published a new academic article to the Queen's University journal, Historical Studies in Education. I also made a mode...Expand for more
st contribution as author to a new history textbook hitting the high schools in 2010 entitled, Creating Canada. At heart, however, the history of Windsor remains my all-consuming research passion. I have two projects on the go to add to the story of Windsor.
In January 2007, my wife Lea and I received the greatest gift of our lives. Our wonderful daughter Ella. Even though I have been blessed with so much good fortune, and I have seen so much of the world, fathering a child has been the greatest experience of my life. Lea and I will be forever grateful for the miracle of life. For all those old friends who take the time to read this short passage, I wish you all the happiness, good health and joy that life can possibly offer. Who knows, one day our paths may cross again!
