Jack Duane's Story
Life
Jack Duane Luhtanen is president, CEO, and founder of Dynatek, Inc. The Livonia, Michigan-based company provides technology solutions for institutions involved in mortgage finance, including consulting, software, and services to clients nationwide. Luhtanen brought 25 years of mortgage software development and technology experience to Dynatek when he founded the company in 1986.
Jack oversees the companyÂs business operations, participates on the product research and development committee and has overall responsibility for the companyÂs mission and vision.
After completing his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, including a stint in Vietnam, Jack spent 17 years with IBM where he had extensive education and experience with computer systems, programming, and the development of financial software systems. Before founding Dynatek, Jack designed and marketed PC-based, mortgage-lending software for Professional Information Management. He is credited with developing one of the first mortgage origination systems using the personal computer.

is very active in the industry. He has participated on several industry panels, such as the Mortgage Banking AssociationÂs Technology Automation panel and AmericaÂs Community BankerÂs Computer Systems for Mortgage Origination panel. He has also spoken as an industry expert on Web origination and Internet loan origination.
Jack is a member of MBA of America, National Association of Mortgage Brokers, Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association, and the Michigan Mortgage Brokers Association. Luhtanen is past president and a charter board member of the IBM Great Lakes Federal Credit Union. He has also written several mortgage automation articles that have been published in Mortgage Banking, Mortgage Originator, Mortgage Technology, the Lender Advocate, and Illinois Banker.
Jack is one of the founders of the Luhtanen-Howes Charitable Foundation, which supports organizations that address social problems. Luhtanen is also on the board of directors of Western Michigan Teen Challenge, a ministry restoring hope to broken lives. His interests outside of Dynatek include travel, sports cars and creating stained glass artwork.
