After leaving Brown County, I attended college for a short while, only to drop out and join the US Army. Upon returning from Viet Nam, I married a girl who had been one of my classmates in second grade at Johnstown Public School. I re-enlisted, and invested the next 17 years serving in various places across America and around the world, before retiring in December, 1986. My wife and I raised four older brothers for our daughter. One of our sons died in 1995 at age 19. The remaining children have given us, to date, four grandsons and two granddaughters. One son is involved in missions work in South Texas and Mexico; one is a careerist in the US Navy; one works construction and our daughter is a foreclosure agent for a major mortgage services company. Since retiring from the army I have held a number of jobs, from being a guide at a local tourist attraction, to managing a hog farm.
