Jack's Story
Life
After 20+ years and 3 kids (angie 19, Benji 17, Maggie 12) I am now 2 years into the divorce process. Messy details witheld due to...well, they're messy. Dropped out of HS in 73, tried the Air Force (if you knew me back then you don't believe this but I swear it's true) lasted 1 month. Worked selling retail stereo equipment but that really was just a cover. My real occupation for the next 5 years was partying beyond belief. It's unbelievable that I lived through it. Wound up in NY (eastern Long Island) halfway through this foggy period (1978) and wound up in a family business. Met who I thought was my lifetime soulmate in 1980, married in 1982, but of course that didn't quite work out (see 1st sentence above). But I always try to remember that in this case it wasn't about the destination, it was the journey that made it worthwhile. belongs to the attorneys. Got real thin back in the party years, got heavy during the early married years, got thin again and then got huge (OK, let's get real - FAT!) due in good part to medication. Slowly getting lighter again but long way to go. My hair has remained long except during the 80's. It was down to my ass until 18 months ago when I cut it all off on a whim. I was immediately sorry and have been growing it back ever since. It's about a foot past my shoulders now. I'm currently living on Social Security Disability while my lawyer works on getting me alimony (she makes $75k + as a HS teacher/counselor). My oldest has been with me since this nightmare started and is now in community college. I've been slowly working towards my degree the last 8 years (with occassional breaks) at the same school and I'm about halfway there. I hope to be a HS History teacher when I grow up. That's about it in as concise as I can put it. I hope to renew some old friendships through this site.
