Jack's Story

College teacher of English and advanced writing; professional SAG actor performing in more than fifty plays and a few TV episodics and several commercials. Last April, I appeared on "The Office" as a senile old man....type casting, I guess. "The Office" is supposed to take place in Scranton; not even the director knew I was a native of beloved Scranton. I assure you that episode was shot in a San Fernando bowling alley. Married with seven adult children and eight grandchildren; my wife and I love to travel and are both active in our parish here in California.I try to get back to Scranton at least once a year, and I try to stay in touch with old friends by e-...Expand for more
mail and phone. In this photo, I had the chance of a lifetime to fly in a retrofitted B-17 heavy bomber from World War II named "Aluminum Overcast". My eldest son, Matthew, and I went up over Ventura County and out over the Pacific Ocean. Great fun if you get the chance; it was not noisy, but stank of exhaust fumes and fuel. In the early '70's picture, my cousin, Charlie "Corky" Murphy and I pose outside of the old Immaculate Conception Church in the Hill Section after a family wedding. Corky is gone now, but he will never be forgotten by those from South Catholic who went to school with us. Let it be said in all truth, "He made us all laugh."
