The blue tarp protects the bank where the waterfalls will be.
The main fish pond has been marked out.
By the end of summer the pool was filled in. Shows what an old retired guy, with too much time on his hands, can do when given a shovel and wheelbarrow.
The trees and shrubs still surrounded the oppisite end.
All the trees and shrubs had been removed from this end.
He was a big guy.
The pool was 35 years old, in need of repair and not used any more. By July, 2014 a dent had been made in filling it in.

The structure at the other end was constructed from lava rocks.
Cichlids require places to call home. So a mountain full of caves, nooks & crannies had to be built.
6 cichlids were added today. Another 6 in a couple of weeks. Need to go slow so the beneficial bacteria will keep up with the ammonia and nitrates. The tank will house 30 some. The blue peacock is a beauty.
The new tank is 6 feet long. It looks huge compared to the 4 foot tanks. When I sit in the chair to view the fish I usually have a cat on my lap.
