Jackie's Story
Life
After dropping out of Muskegon Community College (which was nothing more than high school with ashtrays), I moved to Los Angeles where I spent six years working for a music & film production facility.
After years of firestorms, floods, earthquakes and riots I moved to Alaska - a land with even bigger firestorms, floods and earthquakes (but little in the way of riots). As an added bonus, Alaska also has the ever-present threat of volcanic eruptions, avalanches, bear maulings and moose tramplings.
IÂ spent almost thirteen years in Anchorage, the last seven were spent managing the state's biggest and best recording studio.
I was also active in the local arts scene. In 2002, I was captain of the only Alaskan team sent to the National Poetry Slam....Expand for more
IÂ wrote the occasional political commentary for the daily paper whenever I got riled up. IÂ've dabbled in fiction as well, but have yet to earn a dime from it.
In 2006 (my last year in Alaska), I wrote and performed a one-woman show commissioned by a local theatre, acted in two plays and played a cavewoman in a TV commercial.
I'm now residing in a teeny tiny town in rural Alabama. I live a brutally simple life while trying to whip 29-acres of inherited neglected countryside back into shape. I work a handful of odd jobs to pay for the things I can't barter for.
I grow a lot of my own fruit and vegetables. I raise a couple dozen chickens for eggs and the occasional chicken dinner. There's also a few goats, too many cats and an old yeller hound dog.
