Jaclyn's Story
Life
After high school I decided to go to Penn State University - Beaver campus, because it wasn't too far from home, but it was far enough that I could live away. I am still taking classes and I am planning to graduate in December. This fall I will be taking one class in Fayette, one class in Beaver, and two classes online. I am planning on living at home until I finish with these 4 classes.
I am also working with the County doing an internship. I work in the Planning and Development Office. I am going to continue working with the county until the end of the year and hopefully they will offer me a full time job. If so I may continue working here and if not I might move away. I haven't decided yet.
Another huge portion of my life right now is my boyfriend Kurtis. I met him at school and we have known each other for a couple of years. We decided to start seeing each other and my life has completely changed. He is an amazing person and I don't think I could want anything better. It has been so much fun spending time with him and getting to know each other.
I also spend a lot of time with my family right now. It has been nice coming home from school and actually being able to stay at home. When I go away to school I don't usually get to see them too often, so it is nice to spend time with them. When I was away I felt like I was missing out on a lot of things and I was. Now, I can be home for things like softball games, basketball games,...Expand for more
and the plays. (which my sister does all three)
All in all I am very satisfied with my life right now and I am happy to be where I am.
College
I am currently a student at Penn State University - Beaver Campus. I am a senior this semester and I am going to be graduating in December. I have had three different roommates while I have been at school and the last semester I was there I had my own room, because I just can't have a roommate.
I was involved in a lot of activities while I was at Penn State. The most important one was something called THON. This is a huge benefit that raises money for kids with cancer. I volunteered to be a dancer this year and that means that I had to stay awake and on my feet for 48 hours over a weekend in February. I actually stayed awake for 61 hours and the whole benefit raised over 4.1 million dollars. This was one of the greatest achievements of my life and I was so proud to do it.
While at PSU I was also involved in the SGA (student government association), was a New Student Day leader, was the treasurer of RHAC (residents hall advisory council), and of course was the co-chair and dancer for THON.
Workplace
I am currently working for the Greene County Department of Planning and Development. I am doing an internship here for school. This is the second internship I have done in this office and I like working here. I have a lot of responsibility in this office and enjoy the work that I am given.
