Jacob's Story

School School was typically fun and gave me a very diverse background. It was a Jack-of-all-trades experience for me. It would have been especially fun without the perpetual conflicts from Mr. Land in Math, Mr. Nelson in Chem, Mr. Yeager in Science/Physics,the trauma I visualized from Mrs. Buntin in Spanish, as well as the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder sustained from Mr. Nolen's preaching about my head ending up on "cement city" while watching red asphalt!! But hey...."INSTRUCTORS HAPPEN". We all survived! I'm actually VERY GRATEFUL that my instructors (and classmates too I guess) tolerated me while I was learning to grow up, sometimes painfully learning the hard way. For those that know me better: Give me a break, I had to say something good because at least one of our classmates (Rick Interbitzen) became one of them and more importantly,.....I MARRIED one of them (Nancy Reed). Hope to see people at the Reunion if I can escape from work in Maryland! College B.S. in Psychobiology. Involves organic based study of behavior. Military Enlisted as Medic in USAF. Went from E1-E5 and my name was on the promotion roster for E6 but I was promoted to 01 after deploying for Desert Storm. Got my MD from USUHS <mi...Expand for more
litary medical school>. Did my internship at NNMC in Washington DC in Psychiatry. Was a Battalion Surgeon for Marines at Camp Lejeune, which is a bit of a joke because you are always deployed everywhere but my wife and kids were at Lejeune. Those were the best years in my career because of the commeraderie and teamwork. I had no idea what Marines were or how hard they work for our country. Also, how even harder those FMF Corpsman had to work when you consider they have to do their job after completing the same humps but ithey are all impressive really and its not fair to compare the different paramount roles they have. Commendation Medal from USMC received then I completed Psychiatry Residency in Washington DC. I received an Army Commendation Medal and an Army Achievement Medal for the time spend in Residency. Staff Psychiatrist supporting our Troops at Bethesda for three years which also included one day per week psych support at Dhalgren/Willow Grove, and Quantico at various tiimes. By the grace of GOD and truely hard work on the part of people I had the privilege of providing support to, nobody under my care has ended their life. After Bethesda I was PCSd to Camp Lejeune again which is where I am now.
