Life
Hi everyone!
I've been living in Toronto on and off since graduating from Collingwood...I did my Bachelor of Commerce degree at Queen's, then moved to South America, where I worked in Bolivia and Ecuador for awhile, then moved back to Toronto and started working as a management consulting. It wasn't for me, and I quickly left and became a staff member at the Sierra Club, an environmental non-profit organization. A few years ago I left Sierra to do my Masters degree in Resource and Environmental Management at SFU, and then I moved back to Toronto, where I work as both an energy and climate change economist AND a fitness instructor. In my economics work I have become one of the Canadian experts in carbon capture and storage, and particularly in public attitudes toward the technology. tions. I compete in fitness competitions, and have been lucky enough to have had a number of TV and print appearances.
I'm happily partnered to Leonard, who also has two divergent careers (environmental product sales and screenwriter) and we live with our cat Jessie in a little condo on the water.
Aside from climate change and fitness, my other passions are politics and democratic reform. I am just finishing up my term as Vice-Chair of Fair Vote Ontario, a multi-partisan organization promoting proportional representation voting systems in Ontario. Our work has been successful - Ontario will have a referendum on changing the voting system in October 2007, much like BC did 2 years ago. I'll be continuing to work on the Yes campaign, but am scaling back my involvement a bit, as my consulting work has gotten very busy, and I always am struggling to leave enough time for myself and my family!
