Jacqueline's Story
In High school and college I enjoyed both writing and drama courses the best. I got a job which led to a career using both of those talents after moving to Michigan. I had two children and finished my degree at Eastern Michigan University. After my divorce in 1977 I raised the girls and continued my education at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan, working on my Masters in Clinical Psychology. I did not complete the program because of family demands, such as custody of my first granddaughter, Crystal, who I helped raise from birth and retained custody of for five years. I lived in the Detroit area when I was first hired for the state of Michigan as a case worker. I was promoted a few times and eventually became a supervisor of Assistance Payments workers. I helped develop an Investigative Interviewing course and trained it in the Detroit area to the offices in Wayne County. After becoming interested in training I moved to Lansing and was promoted to the Department of Training and Staff Development.

early 20 years I traveled the state training workers in Health and Human Services. The last years in training I trained Social Work Techniques in a program I piloted and developed called a Solution Focused approach to human services. I adapted it to a management style and trained that in my final years of training. The last two years with the state were in the area of Policy Writing and Development.
I retired from the state in Sept of 2005. I'm now living on a small lake near Lansing, working part time for HR Block and collecting my pension.
My partner of 15 years and I own several time shares which we have used to travel to places we might not have gotten to with the grand children like, Florida, Las Vagas, California, the Carribian, the islands of Maui, Oahu, Kaui, and the Big Island, Cape Cod, New York, Canada, Puerta Vallarta and so forth.
The one person I have kept in contact with has been Barbara Nasby. Proud to still call her friend after all these years and have visited her a few times in the last five years.
