Jacquelyn's Story

Life I went into the Air Force in 1984 and was stationed mainly in North Carolina at Pope AFB, then a tour in the Philippines was cut very short due to the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. (That was quite an experience!) I married in 87 and had my son Jackson in 92. He is a Desert Storm baby! In 94, we got out of the AirForce and moved back to Bainbridge. AFter 4 1/2 years here, my husband decided to move us up to Ohio. (YUCK!) In less than a year, Jackson and I moved back to Bainbridge and his father and I divorced. I returned to college and completed schooling. I worked at the local hospital in Bainbridge for almost 6 years, but the stress was literally killing me. So now I'm heading in another direction. I'm looking forward to what life has in store for me in the next few years...whether or not a partner is involved! School The teachers that I got the most out of are as follows: Berry Penhallegon and Damon Taylor, Science; Jack Kendrick, History; Tommie Cooke and Carolyn Kelly, Home Economics; Linda Dubay, Business; Ralph Jones, Woodworking. I didn't really date or have a crush on anyone at BHS, but I did at Chattahoochee High. :) I remember Mrs. Dubay writing in my Purango "glad to see you made it back from Chattahoochee, physically, if not mentally". Winning the McDonalds contest for saying forwards and backwards "two all beef patties...." correctly and receiving a years worth of lunch coupons at McDonalds my senior year. Riding horses at the back of the homecoming parade my junior year. Probably the saddest moment of school was the beginning of Senior yr when Mike Moye was killed when his jeep turned over on him. Spending Spring Breaks either at St George with Robin Musgrove Vickers and Margie Day Smith..."The Surf Hut"...and at Navarre Beach near Ft Walton with Sandy Kendrick Pritzl and the "hot" date we had. If I had to do it over, knowing what I know now, I'd have chosen to do some things a bit different...to include my choice of careers. College Lance Toasted Cheese and Peanut butter crackers and Pepsi were life blood for me. Driving 65 miles one way 5 days a week, two quarters I had night classes. Sitting up for HOURS doing ONE class homework. The class I disliked the most, of course. Homework was 90% of the grade. My favorite teacher at Thomas tech was Don Crews, Science teacher. Making a class interesting and fun to learn. Making the Deans List with a 4.0 the first quarter and being inducted into the Honor Scociety, graduating with Honors as No2 in my class...having my parents and my son there to see me. Oh, and having my new boyfriend show up unexpectedly with an armful of yellow roses for me. Workplace Hmm, many jobs thru the years. Starting at age 8! Working at my parents Lodge in various places...Expand for more
from the store to the restaurant. I worked there on and off til we sold the place in 20000. I worked at a Hallmark store as a sales clerk, International Paper Company as a seasonal helper, The Post Searchlight two different times, both in Ad sales, The Hand Sports Dist. in Pelham as a sales rep, several restaurants in Tallahassee and Ft. Lauderdale as a waitress, photographer for a well known modeling agency in Ft Lauderdale. The US Air Force for almost 10 years in the air transportation field. Owned my own business for 10 years with Discovery Toys. An ad sales rep for several years with the Twin City News in Chattahoochee, a DJ for a while at a small Bluegrass- Country station in Chattahoochee. A sales rep- administrative asst for a large printing company in Ohio, and as a security guard at a large casino outside of Cincinatti, Oh. I've been primarily in the sales field most of my working life...being in the public eye. It was fun and I met a lot of people. What I've doing the last almost 6 years was NOT fun, and I had very little contact with the public. It was steady and stable but also frought with corruptness and subtle passive-aggressive abuse. I finally got out it and now on the search for something less stressful and better suited to me. Actually, I'd love to combine my passion for photography and music into a business. I've got some ideas...:). Military I went into the AirForce in April of 84 and took Basic Training at Lackland in San Antonio,TX. I was selected to be in the Drum and Bugle Corps there so it was rather fun! Tech school was up in N. Texas at Sheppard in Wichita Falls. It was the summer and HOT! Got the best tan I've ever had though! My first assignment was to Pope in Fayetteville, NC. Our base was the air support for FT Bragg...home of the 82nd Airborne. My squadron was 3 MAPS (Mobile Ariel Port)I worked with the C-130 cargo aircraft loading and unloading cargo and personnel. (among other things) I was a part of many excercises..to include the Panama Invasion, numerous goings on in Central and South America and of course Desert Storm. I was also privaledged to be a part of the MAC Base Honor Guard for the first 4 years at Pope. In early 91, I was sent to Clarke AB in the Philippines for a year. After being there only 6 weeks, the local Volcano, Mt Pinatubo chose to erupt after a 500 year slumber. That was quite an experience living thru that, the earthquake and a typhoon all at the same time. My journey home took over a week and included a ride on a Navy oil tanker, a Sikorsky helicopter, a C141 cargo plane and Trump Airlines (yuck!). These travels took me from Clarke to Subic Bay Naval base, Cebu, Guam, Hawaii and McChord AFB in Washington state before coming back to Pope. I got out after giving birth to my son in 92.
