Jade's Story
Life
Jade Floyd joined the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education as Communications Manager in July 2006 where her responsibilities include managing communications efforts throughout the Association and designing media strategies to support events, publications and government relations activities. She has secured multiple interviews and media placements in publications such as the New York Times, Education Week, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Washington Post, CNN, Education Daily, Bloomberg News, the Boston Globe, Education World, USA Today and U.S. News & World Report, all on behalf of AACTE.
Previously, she served as Managing Director of Cities United for Science Progress, a partnership between the U.S. Conference of Mayors and DuPont, in which she traveled the country extensively coordinating the Science in the School Day initiative with our nation's mayors and member cities of Conference.
A Texas native, Ms. Floyd spent two and a half years working for State Senator Leticia Van de Putte as her communications specialist on both the senate and campaign side. She also worked in various capacities on South Texas political campaigns during her under...Expand for more

As an associate at a boutique D.C. based public relations firm, her expertise included reputation management and advocacy, proposal development and public relations campaign development and media relations for variety of clients including ARAMARK and the National Black MBA Association.
Ms. Floyd has a keen interest in political communication. She received her Masters of Applied Politics from The University of AkronÂs Ray C. Bliss Institute where her academic focus included the media as agenda-setters and lobbying. During her time in graduate school she worked as a public relations intern in the Department of Institutional Marketing at the university.
Jade has received numerous awards and recognitions for her political and volunteer service in the community and has presented several panels on political campaign communication including ÂHow to Build a Campaign Plan at the 2005 National WomenÂs Political Caucus Convention.
An avid restaurant connoisseur, Jade says some of her guilty pleasures are a good merlot, snowboarding, golf, political blogs and she can never turn down an episode of Law and Order.
