Jake's Story

Life After graduating from Easton in 1976, my first career took me from New Orleans to the great state of Alaska where I worked on an offshore oil rig which was drilling for oil off the coast of Dutch Harbor Alaska. That platform named the "Ocean Ranger" was the biggest and the most modern instillation of its kind. Built to withstand the most harsh weather conditions (high winds and seas) we drilled several wells off the coast of Alaska as well as the Grand Banks off the coast of Newfoundland. I left the "Ocean Ranger" in 1980 to join the New Orleans Police Department. Weeks after leaving the rig, it capsized killing all 84 men aboard. The crew that perished was the group to which I was assigned. I retired from the New Orleans Police Department in October 2001 after 21 years of service. I'm presently doing consu...Expand for more
lting work for two of the largest transportation companies in the country. I don't work every day so that leaves me free time to play a little golf and also the chance to get in some scuba diving as well. I also like jumping out of airplanes....skydiving.... it's the greatest feeling in the world. I never married ( came close once ) so I'm single and loving it. I still reside in New Orleans and live in Lakeview. Updated on 11/24/06. Thanks to Katrina which took upon her self to change our lovely neighborhood to her liking and make Lakeview an extension of the Aquarium of the America's by flooding our homes with 12ft of water. So I have since relocated to Baton Rouge and now working for Acadian Ambulane Service out of the Hammond, La. central office as an EMT. Looks like I'll be here awhile......a good while :)
