Jalene's Story
Life
It's been an exciting time these last few years. My sons are now 16 & 15 and in High School - my how time flies when you're having fun - I'm loving the teen age years.
I've worked for my father's company for 15 years, first with the railroad now as Vice President of the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train (in McCloud), primarily handling the marketting and personell issues.
I also am Executive Director of the California Short Line Railroad Association. I represent all the California Short Line Railroads on legislative and regulatory issues. I'm also very involved in national issues in my industry sitting on many committees and am Pacific Region Vice President of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association. I do quite a bit of travelling to industry meetings and conferences and while living out of a suitcase sometimes is gruelling, for the most part I love it.
I'm also very involved in the community. While I spend a great deal of time in Sacramento and Southern California I currently call Weed my ...Expand for more
home and my sons attend Weed High School. I am a Board Member of the Weed Union Elemetary School Board. I sit on the Siskiyou Golden Fair Board as Vice President - appointed by the Governor. I have also been very involved in my son's sports including coaching soccer for two years when they were young. Yes, you remember correctly, I have never been athletically inclined. But I couldn't say no when they were in desperate (obviously) need of coaches.
I'm also very politically active and currently am Secretary of the California Republican Party. I've been on the Board of the CRP in various positions for 7 years.
I don't have a whole lot of free time but love travel and taking my sons to see that there is a great big world outside of Siskiyou County. We had a week-long vacation in Texas earlier this year and we had a great time. I've been to Texas (Austin, San Antonio and the Metroplex) several times and have feel in love with it. I plan to move there, most likely Austin, after my youngest son graduates in 2010.
