James (Jim)'s Story
After graduation from MSHS in 1970, I attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where I double-majored in journalism and English. Earned undergraduate degrees in Dec 1973, and went to work in early 1974 for Henry Thorpe & Associates, Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC -- a public relations/corporate communications firm. After nearly a year there, I returned to school at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte where I earned my masters of education degree.

ton-Salem in 1976 where I taught elementary school (Grades 3-4-5 academically-gifted students) for almost 32 years in various schools within the system. During the 1980-81 academic year, I was one of four finalist for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Teacher of the Year. I retired in June 2008.
Currently, I enjoy national and international travel, community volunteerism, and genealogy. I live with my partner of 45 years in Pfafftown, North Carolina (a suburb of Winston-Salem).
