James's Story
Life
After EBHS went to WVIT & Got Bachelor's Degree in Music Education 7-12. 1966 - - Band Director at Scott High, Madison. 1967 - married Pamela Toney ( Class of '66 EBHS ) 1968 - - Moved to Rainelle to become Band/ Choir director at Greenbrier West High, Charmco. In 1971, we had a Son, Jamie( US Marines in 1st Gulf War)- - Back home to Pratt to become Band Director at East Bank Junior High( Last Move- - 31 Years taught at EB) 1975 Pam & I divorced! 1980 - - Maryann Brown ( Class of '79 EBHS ) became Mrs. James R. Anderson We have 2 sons Travis (WVU Grad - Degree In Bio-Chemistry) & Adam a Riverside High graduate- a Firefighter trainee at Carver Career Center / Over the road Truck driver!- Now WVDOH employee )We live in East Bank - - Where Else?
In 2009, my 1st grand child was Born! What a Joy! Alexis Rose Anderson. . On March 12, 2011 my 1st grandson, Brock Avery Anderson was born! Both are Adam / Amber's
I retired from East Bank Middle School in 2002, after 36 years of teaching in public schools and as Adjunct Professor of Music at WVU Tech. -Spring 2003 I taught at WV State College, Institute. Last school. Served as Assistant Band Director at WV State University 2003-2006
In Oct.2005 I began subbing as Librarian at EB Middle until Feb 12 2007 --when took Early Social Security!
Subbed 90 / 180 days in school...Expand for more
year 2007-8. In a recently completed School Year 2009-10, I worked 80 / 180 days( What retirement?) Just makes 44 years I've taught!
Helped organize the Annual East Bank High "Sixties Reunion" held on the last Friday of September EACH year! Come join in the fun if you were a 60's Pioneer!! (2007-2011) Next sept will celebrate my 50th Reunion since my 1962 graduation!
I have some GREAT memories of performances with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Opera, Local Broadway Shows, Jazz, Church Cantatas & Pop Groups(Nightclubs)! I've played from Billo's on Paint Creek to the Greenbrier Hotel, the Govenor's Mansion, a 1993 Tour of England with the WVU Tech Jazz / Symphonic Band, EBHS All-Class Reunion Dance (1998-2004) & many others!
I love to fish & play golf, garden & play on my NEW ELECTRONIC Roland V-Session Drums! They are sooooo neat!
If you came to the EBHS 60's Reunion on the last FRI, of Sept.(25th, 2004) & you heard them! ( 2004)
On September 25, 2004 I was honored as East Bank High Alumni Association's : "ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR!!!"
WOW, I'm really blessed to have been chosen from many, many PIONEERS!
Great anticipation for my 1962 EAST BANK HIGH 50th Class Reunion on Friday Sept 28th, 2012!
