James's Story
I attended Volta from the middle of kindergarten ('59) until a few months into 7th grade ('66), and lived near Central Park and Ainsle. Wow, I am overwhelmed to see some names that I recognize from almost 50 years ago (where does the time go?) and actually have some memories of people I hadn't had any contact with since that time. Without discounting all the wonderful things in my life since that time, I look back on those days in Albany Park and at Volta as my golden years. In my dreams those years will always my real 'home'.
I am software developer and complete unrepentant computer geek (in those days ...Expand for more
at Volta I always wanted to a scientist -- and I guess I ended up in computer science). In my spare time I write horror/SF and recently checked off another entry on bucket list by becoming a published author. (At Volta the library was my very favorite place in spite of the crabby librarian -- what was her name?) I currently live in Downers Grove, and have been married 28 years to a wonderful woman. We have son and daughter who just recently moved to opposite points of the country, leaving me and my wife as empty nesters.
