James's Story
Life
I was born in Gary, Indiana in September of 1961. My father was a steelworker and my mother was housewife. I was the first born of 5 siblings. We lived a small house right across from Evergreen cemetary and less than a mile from Ridge View Elementary School. I had a few neighborhood friends like Eddie Johnson and Steve Miller. We hung out a lot during summers and after schools. I think of them every now and then. Then my family moved to a bigger house close to George Earle Elementary School. We had a few neighborhood friends like Ron Estabrook, Dan Talian, and Tommy Loden. They were strange in their own way but we had fun times. I attended Hobart Junior High School and then Hobart Senior High School Upon graduating Hobart Sr. High School, I attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for 1980-1981 school year. I returned to Hobart to work and attend Purdue University-Calumet in Hammond, Indiana. I worked various jobs including Strack-N-Vantil Store in Scherriville, Indiana, Mobile Vehicle Wash in Hobart, Walgreens in Hobart, and assistance farm hand in Valpraiso. All the while I was jumping from job to job I was attending Purdue-Cal attending part-time until 1985. Not satisfied where I was going schoolwise or workwise, I was disillusioned about my future. I went to U.S. Air Force recruiter in January of 1986 and enlisted. I entered the U.S. Air Force officially in January of 1987 and have in the Air Force since. I spent 20 years, 9 months, and 15 days of active duty of service to my country. I officially am a civilian as of 1 November of 2007. I am currently looking for work. I currently single and have not found the lady of my dreams. I have dated in the past but no such luck. Probably dedicated to my work. I enjoy stamp and coin collecting, reading and writing poetry, and traveling. I have been to 30 different countries thanks in part to the United States Air Force. Besides earning National Registry in Emergency Medicine, I earned an Associate's in Allied Health Sciences and hopefully to a Bachelor's in Management, Health Services, or Environmental Health. I feel confident that my fellow Hobart graduates have achieved greater goals for themselves and for mankind.
School
I attended Ridge View Elementary School starting 1967 until 1974. My parents had us moved to a bigger house near George Earle Elementary School where I spent my sixth grade year 1974-75. Then I went to Hobart Junior High School from 1975-1978. Then I attended Hobart Senior High School from 1978-1981. I...Expand for more
have had interesting teachers such as Herr Wuchner, my German teacher, and band class with Mr Grivetti and Mr Henderlong. I dated a few ladies but no long term relationship. But I dated this lady at my church. We dated awhile and soon parted ways before we both went to college. I was on the cross-country, track-and-field, and basketball. Went to Arizona to meet my grandparents during my senior year at spring break.
College
I attended Purdue University at West Lafayette, Indiana. College is little different than high school in that studying is little a more work. Gotta do all reading assignments. Instuctors expects more from students in college. I transferred after freshman year down to Purdue University-Calumet in Hammand, Indiana. A little closer to home. Went part-time for four years while working many jobs. Not sure what I wanted but I thought about being a physical education teacher but interest did not last long. Went to Air Force recruiter and joined the USAF.
Workplace
At 14 or 15, I did deliver newspapers for a classmate who was going on vacation. Air Force
Military
I went to U.S. Air Force recruiter in November of 1985 and entered the U.S. Air Force officially in January of 1987. I was a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician-Basic and Aerospace Medical Service Specialist.
