James's Story

Jul. 89 to Present(Nov.15,2008) I have been in Alaska since July '89, and with the FAA since Sept. '90. I was in the training pool till about July '93, when I got sent to King Salmon as a navigation/communication/weather technician. Travelled down to Port Heiden, and over to Dillingham/Togiak for the next 3 years. Moved into Anchorage in Aug. 96, and joined a travelling unit that maintained navaids from Coldbay on south to the end of the earth(Shemya AFB), and St. Paul/St. George Islands. Got married in July '98 and had a daughter,Maria, in Nov. 2000. Sept. 2002 I got a promotion to a Coordinator position in another unit. We take care of the landing aids at Anchorage Airport, and navigation equip. up to Talkeetna, over to Gulkana...Expand for more
, and down to Valdez. Got divorced last year 2007, withthe kids being in Montana with their mother. I am currently engaged to the most beautiful woman, she does read things. And we got married in Dec. 2008. July 2011 Got a management position in Ketchikan. Have 13 technicians and 1 administrative person scattered between Ketchikan, Sitka and Petersburg. So lots of travelling throughout the Southeast. Laurie was able to have her FAA job transfered down here also. May 2021 We both retired from the FAA in 2018 and relocated to Florida. We lived/travelled in our motorhome from June 2018 till July 2020 when we bought a small place do to Covid. Upgraded our motorhome (Tiffin 38LL) and still head out travelling every chance we get.
