James's Story
Life
THE STORY OF TWO:
My first spouse:
Well, just didn't work out - such is life.
My present spouse:
I met by way of a friend. She is a redhead who is obviously the person I was always looking for in my life.
My Job
My starter degree from Eastern Illinois University was my ticket to being in the Air Force as a navigator on C-130s - four years active (mostly in Southeast Asia - not a fun deal) and 16 Reserve (with much time in Central America where I learned to love palm trees and beaches). I am now retired from that. My second degree was in Mechanical Engineering which was my ticket to a real job. I spent the next 25 years as a professional engineer and construction project manager for the U.S. Postal Service managing repair and alteration projects on Postal Service facilities in the Midwest Area. I am now retired from that and working part time as project development manager for Bratton Brothers Contracting - a small commercial construction company.
My Family
I have two former stepdaughters from my starter marriage whom I love very much although they have grown and moved away and I do not see them any more (maybe they will see this profile and write someday). I now have two new stepdaughters whom I am growing more fond of every day altho...Expand for more
ugh they are also grown and moving away a little more every day. Both went to college and finally graduated - YEAH!!!. One has a degree in Fine Arts and lives in San Francisco. The other has a law degree and jobs first as a law clerk for a Federal Judge and now as an associate attorney at a local larger law office. Two very different children. I also have a foster daughter, a KU graduate with a journalism degree who is employed at local advertising agency whom I also love very much and who insists that I describe her as blond, beautiful, smart and perfect - this is true but she can be very controlling at times - somehow I do not seem to mind. She is destined to be a famous world correspondent someday like Christianne Amanpour.
I have two brothers and two sisters who I am very fond of and who live all over the country so I do not get to see them very often.
Since I am now mostly retired, I am looking forward to spending more time at my second home on Stockton Lake MO. I enjoy fishing and swimming there as well as my favorite occupation which is doing nothing on my deck or on my dock - just listening to the birds sing and the tree frogs croak on warm summer evenings and maybe tipping a couple.
Life is good. Two has been a good number for me.
