James David's Story
Life
After leaving Bethany, I worked as a barber to pay my salary but also worked with YFC as one of their directors for several years. I married Marie Neufeld (who was one of the bookkeepers for the District Office at Bethany) and we moved to Paradise CA. We were there for five years, in my barber shop and I organized a county wide program like YFC called Teen Life. The YFC Director had skipped town with some money and the sect. At the same time, I became the youth pastor of First A/G in Chico (non salary) and also began the Royal Ranger program in Paradise A/G. We kept this up for five years and then the Lord said to go full time ministering to the whole family.
Brother Gerhert suggested I get a refresher course in Christian Education by going to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley. This I did, and at the same time, took school administration courses at the UC in San Francisco.

inancial problems and couldn't keep me on staff. I had doubled their SS in that time. This was the beginning of a very active and diverse ministry that would take me from coast to coast to coast. I have been a Youth Pastor, CE Director, Church Administrator, School Administrator, and Children's Pastor. I've done everything but preach and lead music. I could never do either of these. That was not my calling. I retired from the ministry about twelve years ago. My last church was in Fairfax VA. We retired down to LA because this is where the Lord led to so Marie could work with the same Accounting firm she worked for some 20 years before.
We have three children. Timothy, an Enviromental Engineer whose family (wife Jennifer and 5-children) lives in NH. Kathleen (single) works in a warehouse at SAMs club. She will be moving to Little Rock AR in July. Phillip our youngest and his family (Wife Jennifer and two girls) live about five miles away.
God has been good all through the years. It has been a joy to minister for and to Him.
