James Dean's Story
Life
Upon leaving high school in the summer of 1982, I eventually attended Delta College that fall, and after the fall semester was finished, I went to Key West for Christmas Break to celebrate, and the celebration was the reason I didn't return for Spring semester. Instead, I traveled the entire state of Florida for the Spring Break season being a beach bum.
In the summer of 1983, I went to Mackinac Island to work at the Mackinac Hotel. I would return to wait tables and bartend and play soccer in the Cherry Pit Intramural League for the next 4 summers in this mariner's paradise. During the off season I attended Lansing Community College and lived in East Lansing.
In the fall of 1986, after taking enough credits at LCC to transfer to Michigan State University and finally rush with all my friends whom I had already become friends with on Mackinac...I decided to go back to Florida instead and lived in Tampa and St Petersburg Beach, where I would spend the next 3 years waiting tables and bartending at the Hyatt and going to Disney World and going to the beach and riding a motorcycle...until I got in a bad wreck and had to substitute a beat up red Alfa Romeo rag top with 4 wheels to have the wind in my hair.

ar in Petoskey for the summer season called the Park Garden Cafe, and then when the summer was over I returned to Florida to pick up my car and headed west to Boulder Colorado to attend CU and get a journalism degree, or really any degree after 7 years of the John Blutarsky college plan...but, I stopped to see a college buddy in Dallas Texas on the way...and never left Texas. For the next few years I worked in the bar and restaurant industry, and when I saved up enough money I would run off to see Grateful Dead shows...in fact, I would eventually see almost 300 shows from coast to coast.
By the summer of 1991, I quit my job and went on the entire Grateful Dead tour selling T-shirts, and then sold black bean burritos and beer on the subsequent tours. Total freedom. I was becoming a full blown hippy by this time and began growing my hair long.
After tiring of Dallas, in the spring of 1992, I moved to Austin Texas to eventually attend the University of Texas. I was very much into writing and film making and UT had one of the best radio/television/film (RTF) programs in the country, but after buying a Macintosh for writing and editing, I became interested in the internet and would officially drop out of college forever to start my own internet company called Sundream Media.
