James's Story
Life
ItÂs hard to believe that 12 years have gone by since graduation. I guess thatÂs what brings me here. Just wondering what people have been up to during all that time.
As for me, four years at IUP went by even faster than my time at NAHS. Graduation (and student loan payments) came too soon, and I was thrown out of the comfortable world of academia and into the Âreal world. I moved home for a year and slaved away in retail for a year before getting my first real job.
Work took me to NYC and kept me there for five years, longer than IÂd ever thought IÂd end up staying. I liked my job and loved the people I worked with, but the...Expand for more
city never became home to me. ItÂs kind of like an adult version of Disney World; fun to visit, but hard to live there  and expensive as hell. If only there had been a meal plan.
My college girlfriend went with me to the big city. We married in 2004 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with our friends and family on the sand.
My current job brought me back to reality and back to Pennsylvania. IÂve been living and working in Pittsburgh for the past two years. The Burgh is probably the most livable city in the country. Houses are affordable, taxes are reasonable, and traffic is manageable. If the rest of America finds out about it, IÂm screwed.
