James's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to college at Ramapo College in NJ and then Waynesburg College in PA. After 1 year I joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and spent 11 years as a Pharmacy Technician, then became a Submarine Independent Duty Corpsman, and an instructor at the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, CA. I've been married to my wife, Leslie, for over 16 years. I've traveled alot in the Navy, and have been stationed in Groton, CT (twice, first at the Naval Hospital, then later at Naval Undersea Medical Institute and for a short time, on board the USS Toledo fast-attack submarine), Cairo, Egypt (for 2 years, during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm period), Cherry Point, NC, Kings Bay, GA (where I was stationed aboard the USS LOUISIANA trident submarine), and San Diego, CA as an instructor at the Naval School of Healt...Expand for more
h Sciences where I taught Pharmacy and Medical Supply. I currently live in my new house near Athens, Georgia (northeast of Atlanta), retired from the Navy after 20 years service and currently work as an over-the-road truck driver. I am planning (eventually, within 2-4 years)to start a campground business in north Georgia and continue with another passion of mine, writing.
College
I don't know if I can fit 19 years of college in this little box. Basically, I spent 1 semester at Ramapo College in NJ, 1 Semester at Waynesburg College in PA, changed my major 7 times in the first year, then joined the Navy after my Pell Grant fell through while attending my first week at Penn State. After that, I spent off-duty hours at many different schools building up credits until I finally got my BS in Liberal Studies through Excelsior College.
