Harold's Story
A lot of my "old" friends may not recognize me since I am in an Army combat uniform in my pictures. Many of my friends remember me in the Air Force! Not only that, they remember me as "Harry", a nickname given in tech school by my room mate! That is what I went by the entire time I was in the Air Force.

Close to retiring!! The paperwork I submitted last month at drill resulted in finding a "lost" year. I have 19 years, nine months and 12 days toward my 20! One chapter of my life is drawing to a close as another is opening. I started work on my doctorate in ministry this semester.

I didn't actually retire until Oct 2009. I'm sad this morning because I just heard that my unit's deployment date has been moved up from Fall to Spring. Although I won't be going with them in person, my heart, prayers and thoughts go with them every step of the way and every day of deployment until they return home. Several of the guys had begged me to reenlist instead of retiring. They wanted me to go with them as their preacher as I did when we deployed to Iraq. This time they are headed for Afghanistan. It is a more rugged terrain, brutal winters and parched summers, and more dangerous than Iraq.
