James's Story
Life
Hey there fellow "Fighting Tigers" of 1980! Well, after a failed attempt at a higher education (and I use that term loosely) at D&E and a few other jobs that kept me in WV through the majority of the '80s...I moved first to Colorado and then, via the US Army to South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland and finally wound up in Hawaii. After 6 years of military life I grew restless. I finished my enlistment as an NCO and moved back to Colorado. After a year there I recieved a phone call from an old army bud that wanted to know if I was up for some fun and adventure in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a small coral island named Kwajalein, in the Marshall Islands. Of course I was up for it...I missed the blue waters of the tropical Pacific so I packed out and have been here for 6 years. I am currently looking at relocating back to the good ol' USA though. Write if you run across this! UPDATE: I'm now living and working in Hawaii...Loving it too!
Okay...this new entry is finding it's way on 23 Feb 2007. It seems as if there has been an eternity since EHS. I left Hawaii in 2003 to come back out to Kwajalein in the aforementioned Marshall Islands. I have been he...Expand for more
re since then. It is basically the same as when I left it, so not much new to report on there. The newest piece of information that I have to share is that I have recently taken a position with a new company and I will be packing up and moving to Kuwait. Yes friends you heard me, Kuwait. Hey, it's relatively safe in the big scheme of things. There are more people in harms way in most of the US's larger cities and they're just trying to get a latte at Starbuck's. I'm looking forward to the move. The job is in my career field, satellite communications. It will be working with a newer generation of equipment for me, so I have something to learn, but I think it will be well worth the experience. This is the first site of it's kind worldwide, so I will be in the forefront when other sites are build worldwide. I'm looking at staying there for perhaps 5 years and then hopefully, if everything falls into place, Austrailia til retirement. See what I said early is true, it has been an eternity since EHS if I'm looking at retirement. Anyways, I hope to hear from someone...anyone...even if we weren't buddies in high school. Well, until next time friends...take care!!!
