James's Story

Life Hi everyone, After serving an entire summer of detention for Father Rock, and Mr. Rowan for the "Hershey Park" trip, I joined the Navy for 4 years active duty/4 years reserve. I did the world and the world did me back. I'm now officially a Gulf War Vet. I moved to Florida, attempted to try my hand at the buisness world, office, suit, tie, the "whole 9", screw that - it lasted 3 months untill I got on the Fire Department. I have been a firefighter since then. I was married in '92, and we were blessed with our first child on March 1, 1994. We figured out the schools in Florida were a mess, so we moved to Colorado. I worked for the Denver Paramedics for a year while I processed for Denver Fire. My second child was born on June 13, 1996. My wife was rapidly moving up in the rat race buisness executive type stuff. I didn't care for that type of attitude, no more wife. Currently: New wife, great life! Kids with me all the time. Friends with my ex-wife and my husband-in-law. I'm on the Denver Fire Department Engine #24. I am presently recovering from a serious back injury from a fall that occured at an apartment fire. I have been out of service and in and out of the hospital, and just got fixed after 19 months of hell. I hope to make it to the reunion, but if not, I've written enough here to cover it from the day we left. I'm no doctor or anything, but I can honestly say that I have saved many lives along the way, and I wouldn't have it any other way - I love this life. Being a firefighter is my dream come true. (my closest friends probably remember my pager and my anal need to respond to volunteer calls on the Oaklyn Ambulance). Jimmy School Biggest crush - Duh Dawn ------ teacher - Mr. Mitchell - I still use things he has said to me as inspiration, I used to have his home number written on my shoes for when I would get kicked out of the house or get in some other kind of trouble. do over- standard answer, if I could do it over knowing what I know today - YES! Funny,Happy,Crazy - HERSHEY PARK TRIP / BIG BUS / TOGAS Workplace "This is for Engines: 24, 16, 13, 22, 15,...Expand for more
and 5 /Trucks: 16, 19, 15, and 23 Towers: 22 and 1 / Chiefs: 3, 4, and 2 / Rescue 1, Hazmat-1, Airlight This is a task force assignment - On map page Nancy 26 - Report of a commercial Hazardous Material Building Fire with party's reported trapped. 701 South Broadway- All companies responding switch over select district channel 3 for operations...... Denver, Engine 24 arrival we got the plug at Broadway and Tennessee layin' in to large commercial warehouse fully involved with party's trapped on the third floor. Engine 24 assuming command in the fast attack mode, headed for the 3rd floor bravo side - have the first due tower company and the rescue immediatly respond to the 3bravo side to set up and assist for egress of the victims. All other companies set up for an agressive interior attack with a fast transition in mind after the victims have been evacuated. K THIS IS HOW I LIKE TO START MY DAY AT WORK - AWSOME! OFFICE WORK IS FOR SISSY'S. GET A REAL JOB, WHO CARES ABOUT MONEY, IT'T ALL ABOUT AN OVER ACTIVE ADRENELINE GLAND. Hey guy's, you should try going food shopping after a structure fire. It's pretty neat, your all covered in black soot and tar, you smell like a fire place and look like you just crawled out of a chimney- talk about girls! still, at 38 years old - 17 to 60 they are all over us! ya-hoo! 24 on and 48 off with a kelly day twice a month, 96 days a year after vacation is used. What a great life! AND we all love each other, no office BS in the house. You start crap, you get soaked, or greased, or floured, or your car gets frozen into a block of ice over night!- problem solved - no law suit - no hostile work environment- no sissy crap - just good old fire house justice! How many of you get to come home with your abs hurting because you laughed so hard for 24 hours straight? Also, do you really get job satisfaction? Try pulling a kid out of car crash or a burning house. Try saving an old man after a CVA or an MI in front of his disabled wife who still needs him around. AWSOME FEELING! TAKE THE TEST! Get out of the cubicle, get on the rig! Late - Jimmy
