After graduation from Falls Church H.S. I joined the Marine Corps and spent the next couple of years in Vietnam and had training at Camp Schwab on Okinawa for Advanced Jungle Warfare Training and graduated from the Marine Corps Scout/sniper school, at Camp Schwab on Okinawa, for the Marines 2/5. Saw action at Chu Lai, Hill 69, Con Tien, Dong Ha and the Rock Pile on the DMZ. Returned to the DC area where I worked on the Generals promotion branch at the Navy Annex in Arlington until discharge. But while in the Corps I was one of four Marines chosen to represent the Marine Corps in an inter-service rifle match held at Camp Lejeune in late 1967. We shot both pistols and M1 rifles in the match where the rifle competition was without scopes from 250, 350 and 600 yards. I was lucky in that match as I hit bulls eyes with all 10 shots from 600 yards without scope. This match was held at Camp Lejeune, N.C. against the Army, Navy and Air Force sharp shooters, We were behind until the four of us all completed our shots at that 600 yard marker. Spend next four years at the University of New Mexico, graduating with a BS degree. Went to work in the Technology sector in the DC area and spent my career within that Industry.
