James's Story
After graduating from St. Paul of the Cross, I went to high school at Don Bosco Tech in Rosemead. After that I went to Cal Poly Pomona and got a BS in Civil Engineering in 1986. Not having suffered enough punishment, I got an MS in Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley in 1987. I then left California for good, taking a job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, MS (1987-1989). e Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, MS from 1995-2006. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we decided to make ourselves vulnerable to a different natural disaster, and I got a faculty position with the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University in 2006. I've been here since.
I've been married to my wonderful wife since 1990, and have a great stepdaughter and son-in-law and two lovely grandkids whom we spoil without shame.
You might remember me, or you might not, but if you do and ever happen to wander through this part of Texas, give me a shout. You can find me on Facebook and LinkedIn, and my webpage shows up on Google.
