Life
Well, let's see....graduated from Texas Tech University with a BA in History in 1993. Went back to school at the University of Texas, Permian Basin to become certified, and started teaching 6th grade at Blanton Elementary in 1996. I moved to Barbara Jordan Elementary in 1999, and have been teaching there ever since.
I married my college sweetheart, Michelle Henderson, in 1994, and my oldest daughter, Bethany, was born in 1995. My youngest daughter, Brianna, was born in 1999.
College
Texas Tech University (1989-1993) BA - History
University of Texas, Permian Basin (1995-2003) MA - History
Greatest memories? Have to be at Tech and all the fun we had in the "Goin' Band"!!! Also pledgeship in Kappa Kappa Psi, and some great times in the years after that!
Workplace
I teach US History and World Geography at Permian High School. Prior to that, I spent ten years teaching 6th Grade!!!! Who'd a thunk it? lol. One thing is for sure - it was NEVER boring!!!
I taught 6th grade at Barbara Jordan 1999-2005, and at Blanton Elementary 1996-1999.
Military
Well, I ha...Expand for more
d always been interested in the military, but never really had it work out....then I got married, had kids, a career, and kinda let that go by the wayside...
However, after 9/11, I really felt like I wanted to get involved, but thought it was too late and too unreasonable to be able to pull off. However, I found out about the US Navy Reserve's program for people to join without any prior service, and that they even took people as old as 40!!
Anyway, long story short-- I joined in May 2003, survived Great Lakes in Dec 93, and have enjoyed almost all of my experiences. So far my US Navy career has allowed me to serve aboard USS ROBIN (MHC 54) and the USS CONSTITUTION, one of the first six ships ever built for the US Navy, and the oldest commissioned ship in the fleet!!!
I am currently pursuing an officer's commission, but felt enlisting would get me involved the quickest. Being an enlisted sailor has been a great experience, and will prove to be quite valuable should I obtain that commission. If not, I am proud to serve as a regular sailor in the greatest Navy in the world!!!
