James's Story
Life
After High School I continued in the Coast Guard Reserve until 1962 when I entered Law Enforcement as a Police Officer for the City of Mulberry, Florida. In 1964 I joined the St. Petersburg, Florida Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I also continued in Law Enforcement as a Reserve Officer for SPPD. I am married to Penny Coon (Lofton) a 1967 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School. We have six children - five sons who are law enforcement...Expand for more
officers and one daughter who is married to a law enforcement officer. I retired from the City of Saint Petersburg with 25 years service. I moved to North Central Florida and began a second career in law enforcement. I retired a second time as Patrol Captain with 20 years service. My wife and myself are living in Southeastern Tennessee in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains and love it. We are really enjoying retirement but miss Saint Petersburg.
