James's Story

I guess you'll have to ask, and at a given time it may contain more than others and different parts. I have been busy, I'm not rich but I have made some positive impacts. I spent more years at GHS than most. Hopefully you question why. Two years after graduation I was a volunteer assistance BB coach with Dawson Brown. Then, I returned to Gainesville High School to do my student teaching. During my last two years at UF I was teaching at Santa Fe. After that I headed south and spent many years in Hernando County, from writing the math and science education portion of the STOP Camp, to teaching sciences, drafting technology and computer scien...Expand for more
ces. Serving on the Port Authority Board and owning a Kayak, Trail and Scuba business. In my free time I was giving guided tours on the Nature Coast, then back to some working with Disney Corp. and teaching at the UF in the Academic Dive Program, I continue to work on coastal restoration projects representing the Reef Ball Foundation / Reef Innovations. I'm a Leader with the Climate Reality Corps and of course picked up a few years of teaching snowboarding in additions to other extreme sports. I'm back in Gainesville and the past 6 years have traveled the coast from CT to TX, presenting at conferences and surveying living shoreline projects.
